Presentation of “FORECAST”- a student exchange program

World Learning Project continues the implementation of student exchange program “FORECAST”, administered by USAID in cooperation with the Office of Public Affairs within the US Embassy. This year’s program aim is again to send a group of students for a year-long period of academic studies in America (2011/12). The selected students are given a full stipend covering all costs (travel, accommodation, food, books, enrollment fee) and therefore the program is open to students of all economic statuses and diverse study backgrounds.
Students from the first, second and third year of studies at FIMEK are invited to attend the presentation of the student exchange program which will be held on Monday, Dec 13, 2010, at 11am, room O5.
Visiting lecturers from the Szeged University

Within the framework of IPA project between FIMEK and the Szeged University, Assistant professors János Bóka PhD and Péter Kruzslicz PhD delivered lectures on Monday, December 6, 2010, from 4pm -6 pm and workshops on Tuesday, Dec 7, 2010 from 9:30am to 11am.
The main discussion topic was related to EU law and economics. A detailed review of materials used in these lectures and workshops can be found and downloaded HERE.
Both students of FIMEK and Faculty of Law attended the lectures.

FIMEK at the international conference in Brussels and visit to the Solvay Brussels School of Economics and Management - Université Libre de Bruxelles

From Nov 9-10 2010, Assistant professors Maja Ćirić PhD and Jelena Vapa Tankosić PhD participated in a conference named “Careers and Mobility of Researchers”, which was held in Brussels with the aim to promote the mobility of researchers in EU countries and all signees of the Bologna declaration. The conference emphasized the importance of networking and cooperation among universities and especially between universities and industry in terms of practical evaluation of scientific achievements of researchers from universities.
Mr. Benoit Cerexhe, the Belgian Minister of Economy, Employment, Scientific Research and Foreign Trade, who also presides over the EU Competitiveness Council, opened the conference. Among plenary speakers, the truly remarkable ones were professor Rosette S’Jegers PhD, the former vice-rector of Vrije Universiteit Brussel and the present Secretary general of the Flemish Interuniversity Council, then professor Fulvio Esposito PhD- Rector of the Camerino University from Italy and Mr. Didier Malherbe, Vice-president of Public Affairs of the leading Belgian pharmaceutical company, UCB, which brings outstanding researchers from all over the world.
While in Brussels, Assistant professors Maja Ćirić PhD and Jelena Vapa Tankosić PhD also used the occasion to visit the Solvay Brussels School of Economics and Management - Université Libre de Bruxelles. They were warmly welcomed by Professor Bruno van Pottelsberghe PhD, director of the International relations department, Ms. Tamare Schuller, International programs coordinator and their assistant- Anne Georges. They discussed the possibilities of academic cooperation between FIMEK and the Solvay Brussels School of Economics and Management, putting special emphasis on student exchange in master programs, as well as creating an opportunity for FIMEK students to get to visit the most important sights and EU institutions in Brussels.

A Celebration of ten years of the University Business Academy in Novi Sad

A jubilee celebration of ten years since the founding of the University Business Academy (a part of which is also the Faculty of Economics and Engineering Management) was held on October 27, 2010. The celebration was made special by over four hundred attendees- friends and university partners. The university rector, professor Đoka Malešević PhD made an opening speech to greet the guests, and was followed by professor Marijana Carić PhD as President of the University Council. Honorary speakers were also professor Aleksandar Ignjatović PhD- Dean of the Law Faculty, professor Dragomir Đorđević, PhD- Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Engineering Management, professor Mihajlo Gajić, PhD- Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry and professor Siniša Borović, PhD- Dean of the Faculty of Management of small and mid-sized businesses.The Provincial secretary for higher education - Zoltan Jegeš, PhD also addressed the guests and congratulated the University Business Academy on its ten- year jubilee, wishing us all good luck and success in all our future endeavours. The official part of the celebration was followed by a coctail reception and some refined music entertainment.
Upon the ten- year jubilee, the University representatives signed a cooperation agreement with the Institute of Economic Sciences from Belgrade, which is of great importance for the Faculty of Economics and Engineering Management in terms of strengthening future cooperation between the two institutions.

Work meeting at the Faculty of Law of Szeged University in Hungary
October 26th, 2010
Professor Marijana Carić, PhD and Assistant professor Maja Ćirić, PhD visited the Faculty of Law of Szeged University and met with their colleagues and partners in the international project called “The design and implementation of the new master program in EU studies at the Faculty of Economics and Engineering Management”. Project partners discussed together the tentative curriculum of the new study program and the issue of competencies that the students would gain with this new program. Accreditation and enrollment of the first class of students is expected in the coming 2011/2010 academic year.

The press conference with the aim to promote the beginning of the first international project at Fimek

The press conference with the aim to promote the beginning of the project: "Development and Implementation of New EU Master Study Program at the Faculty of Economics and Engineering Management" (No. HU-SRB/0901/221/170) was organized at the Faculty of Economics and Engineering Management on the November 8th 2010, by Faculty of Economics and Engineering Management and its partner University of Szeged.
The project is co-financed by the European Union within IPA Programme Hungary-Serbia. Prof. Marijana Carić, President of the Council of University Business Academy and Project Leader, introduced to the journalists and students the aims of the project, its’ phases in the implementation and the application of its results in the future. Prof. Krisztina Karasi, Vice-Rector of Szeged University has expressed her satisfaction with the beginning of intensive cooperation between Fimek and Szeged University, which should result in development and implementation of an up-to-date and attractive Master Program of European Studies. The accreditation and the enrolment of first-generation students is planed in the year 2011. Participants were also welcomed by prof. Sasa Igić, Deputy Mayor of Novi Sad, who stressed the importance of this project for the city of Novi Sad and for the improvement of education in Serbia, as well as, by Prof. Slavoljub Caric, Serbia's legal representative in the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg, who expressed satisfaction for the launching of such project at Fimek and his personal professional involvement.

Fimek participated in the International Conference in Budapest

Fostering exisiting cooperation our University has with European organizations and institutions, the representatives of the University Business Academy took part in International Conference on Higher Education, Partnership and Innovation, IHEPI 2010, held in Budapest from September 6- 8, 2010. The IHEPI 2010 was organized by the Budapest College of Communication and Business (BCCB) together with their partners Jagiellonian University - The Institute of Psychology, The Wroclaw University of Economics, and Central European University's (CEU) - The Curriculum Resource Center (CRC), as well as Hungarian Committee of European Affairs.
Two papers (“Internationalization of Higher Education – Strengthening HE Reforms in Serbia on the Trajectory of EU Integration” by Jelena Vapa-Tankosić, PhD; Jelena Matijašević, MA; and Miroslav Lazar, MA and „Are Universities in Serbia Market Oriented?“ by Maja Ćirić, PhD; Marko Carić, PhD ; and Bojan Vapa, MA) were included in the workshops as part of official program of the conference, as well as published in proceedings of the conference “From Higher Education to Innovation” distributed to all participants.
Conference was held on three prestigious locations in Budapest, with opening ceremony taking place in prominent „Hunter’s Room“ in Hungarian Parliament, hosted by dr Richard Horcisk, MP and Chairman of the Committee of European Affairs in Hungarian National Assembly and Prof. Laszlo Vass, Rector of BCCB. Professor Marja Makarow, CEO of European Science Foundation and dr Sohail Luka, representing European Commission were among keynote speakers. Representatives of more than 70 Universities, Research Institutes and Institutions from Hungary and other EU countries (Denmark, Great Britain, Austria, Portugal, Italy, Poland, Czech Republic, Spain, etc), but also from Australia, Nigeria, Canada, Armenia, and Croatia took part in this conference.
Second day of the conference took place in Hungarian Institute for International Affairs, where one of our representatives, Jelena Vapa-Tankosic, PhD succesfully presented first of our two papers as part of the workshop „Forms and Experiences of Internationalization and Intersectoral Mobility in Higher Education“.
Third day of this conference was held at the premises of the Budapest College of Communication and Business (BCCB).

The first international online student conference at Fimek
June 14th, 2010
The international student conference “2 EMUNI Research Souk – The Euro-Mediterranean Student Research Multi-conference - LIVING TOGETHER IN THE MULTI-CULTURAL SOCIETY” was held at the Faculty for Economics and Engineering Management on the 14th of June.
LIVING TOGETHER IN THE MULTI-CULTURAL SOCIETY conference was solemnly opened by the Vice Dean Maja Ciric, PhD. This was followed by live broadcast of the conference from the University of Alexandria, where Joseph Misfud, the President of EMUNI University, Andreu Claret, Executive Director of Anna Lindh Foundation, Hind Hanafy, President of Alexandria University and Ismail Serageldin, Director of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, addressed the participants from 14 countries by webcast. The students, professors and associates of Fimek and of the Faculty of Law followed their presentations on video display board with tone from the loudspeakers.

The end of the part of conference which was broadcasted from the Alexandria University was followed by a break after which the second part of the conference took place. A student of Master studies at Fimek, Miroslav Stojisavljevic, personally attended the first part of the conference in Alexandria, where he represented Fimek and presented his scientific work. The second part of the conference implied simultaneous conference sessions at nineteen universities from fourteen countries (the Czech Republic, Egypt, Greece, Italy, Libya, Morocco, Palestine, Portugal, Romania, Slovenia, Spain, Turkey and Tunisia). All universities were connected to Emuni videoconference by Internet, so the participants of the conference at the Alexandria University had a live broadcast from nineteen universities. Program which was broadcasted from Fimek included the address of Marijana Caric, Rector of University Business Academy and Maja Ciric, Vice Dean of Fimek, and then presentations of papers of professors Branislav Veselinovic, Aleksandra Nikolic and Dragisa Zunic and of the teaching assistant Olga Caric.

After the professors’ presentations, the part of the conference which was transmitted online was finished. Subsequently, the students of bachelor, master and doctoral studies at the Faculty of Economics and Engineering Management presented their papers.
The Faculty for Economics and Engineering Management to co-organize an international student conference

Dear students,
In order to enable its students to participate in an international student conference, The Faculty of Economics and Engineering Management has applied for and been accepted as the co-organizer of the EMUNI Research Souk conference “Living Together in the Multi-cultural Society.”
The main organizer of this conference is the EMUNI University from Slovenia. The universities which have been accepted as co-organizers include academic institutions from the Czech Republic, Egypt, Greece, Italy, Lebanon, Morocco, Palestinian Authority, Portugal, Romania, Spain, Turkey, Tunisia, and our Faculty, as the only co-organizer from Serbia.
The conference is going to be held on the 14th of June, 2010, at the premises of all aforementioned fourteen faculties and universities simultaneously, whereas all co-organizers will be connected online via the Internet. Given the fact that our Faculty strives to keep pace with time and development of new information technologies, this will enable all students who take part in the conference to get acquainted with the work and way of studying of their colleagues in the Euro-Mediterranean region in a modern way.
All students would like to write a paper and in that way contribute to the conference, whose theme is “Living Together in the Multi-cultural Society”, can find all information on the website of the EMUNI University at http://res.emuni.si/?id=84. Mobility of students, lecturers and non-teaching staff

The Faculty of Economics and Engineering Management has signed a bilateral agreement with the EMUNI University, which will enable exchange of students, lecturers and non-teaching staff within the ERASMUS project in the period from 2010 to 2013. The Faculty of Economics and Engineering Management has become a member of The Euro-Mediterranean University – EMUNI University.

The Faculty of Economics and Engineering Management is the fist and only faculty from Serbia which joined the Euro-Mediterranean University (EMUNI University) on the October 24th, 2009, at the annual session of the General Assembly of EMUNI University. Representatives of the European Commission Directorate-General for Education and Culture were among the attendants. The Euro-Mediterranean University is a prestigious international network of 141 faculties from 37 different countries. The membership in the network of EMUNI University enables The Faculty of Economics and Engineering Management to intensify international cooperation with all members of the University (list of members), with special emphasis on the international exchange of lecturers, associates and students. The students of the Faculty of Economics and Engineering Management will also have an opportunity to improve their knowledge and skills by participating in summer schools organized by the EMUNI University in the most popular destinations in the Mediterranean region.

Fimek participated in the International Conference on Higher Education

Vice Dean Maja Ćirić, PhD and Assistant Professor Jelena Vapa Tankosić, PhD participated in the International Conference on Higher Education, held in the period from 25th to 26th September in Portoroz, Slovenia. The conference was organized by the Emuni University and Compostela Group of the University, with support from the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology of Slovenia. On this occasion, Fimek representatives have talked with President of Emuni University and president of Compostela Group of the University on the possibilities for Faculty of Economics and Engineering Management and The University Business Academy, Novi Sad to join this international prestigiuos network of Faculties and Universities.

Representatives of the European School of Economics Rector Prof. Dr Stefano D'Anna and Executive Director of the Campus in New York, Mr. Alessandro Nomellini in a warm meeting with representatives of the Faculty of Economics and Engineering Management, Prof. Dr Marijana Carić, Rector of the University , Assistant Prof. Maja Ćirić, Vice Dean for the Faculty of Economics and Engineering Management and Assistant Prof. Jelena Vapa Tankosić, Director of Financial Institutions in Vojvodjanska banka, former student of MBA studies at the European School of Economics, have signed an international agreement on cooperation, which provides the following benefits for students of the Faculty of Economics and Engineering Management:

After completing the second year of undergraduate studies at the Faculty of Economics and Engineering Management, students may enroll, without passing differential exams, third and fourth year at the European School of Economics, which has campuses in Rome, Milan, Florence, London and New York.

Students who complete the undergraduate studies at the Faculty of Economics and Engineering Management can continue studies toward a Master degree at the European School of Economics, which opens them the door to perform professional practice in more than 1000 leading company in the world, with which the European School of Economics has signed agreements.

The tuition fee for students of the Faculty of Economics and Engineering Management, who decide to continue studying at the European School of Economics, is considerably lower than the market price defined for students from the European Union and the United States.

Students, who need to refresh English, which is most required since all classes are in English, are offered an intensive course in English in duration of 5 weeks in a campus in London, completely free, because it is included in the tuition.
With this agreement the Faculty of Economics and Engineering Management seeks to enable its students to, under favorable conditions, obtain international education and work experience in the leading international companies.

International cooperation with EURAXESS

The Business Academy, (Autonomous and Private University in Novi Sad) joined the national network EURAXESS on the June 08, 2009 by signing the Declaration of Commitment with the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering in Nis, as the network coordinator.
This declaration involves taking of moral obligations in joint efforts to facilitate the incoming and outgoing mobility of researchers, which includes posting information on submitted work queries, if any, from foreign researchers and publishing the job offers on admission of researchers from The Business Academy.
On the other hand, by signing the Declaration, the Business Academy shall be entitled to participate in training organized by the Serbian and European EURAXESS network and extranet access, through which it is possible to make direct contacts with more than 200 European institutions, which are included in the network, and as well as with the representatives of the European Commission.

Institution No.: 612-00-636/3/2008-04 of June 19, 2009 by which it is determined that the Faculty of Economics and Engineering Management fulfils the prescribed standards for the accreditation of the institution within the field of social-humanitarian sciences and technical - technological sciences.
